The purpose of the Membership Committee is to maintain a strong membership roster with reasonable growth targets; involve a wide constituency in the chapter including clinical, informatics, and students, as well as HIT professionals. SECURITY, PRIVACY & COMPLIANCE TASKFORCE - Co-Chairs: Gerry Blass, John Donnelly
The Security, Privacy and Compliance (SPC) Taskforce was formed to address the ever increasing need within the NJ healthcare provider and payer community for greater collaboration and education on information security, patient privacy and regulatory compliance issues. In September 2009 the HITECH rule or “HIPAA part 2” came into effect with regulatory mandates and Meaningful Use requirements for the implementation of greater security and privacy controls. The purpose of the SPC Taskforce is to provide NJ healthcare professionals involved in security, privacy, compliance and risk management with a forum for collaboration and education. Through educational sessions focused on the most pressing issues in the world of information security; our goal is to increase awareness, share best practices and lessons learned, and serve as a convener for members interested in security, privacy and compliance.
